For IT Managers, EAMS simplifies the Governance of all IT artifacts (projects, applications, infrastructure, etc) allowing to:
- Have a real-time view updated view of the IT landscape, both current and foreseen, based on ongoing and planned projects. This allows a step by step view of the evolution from current AS IS to target future state.
- GAP analyses between artifacts on the projects pipeline and planned ones are provided on a weekly timeframe.
- Discover redundancies both in business demands and IT artifacts. By providing a common language between IT and Business, it becomes much easier to detect redundancies on both domains.
- Assess overall effort, cost and risks due to planned projects pipeline, for the organization, based on architectural elements.
Management can check the foreseen evolution of IT landscape over time, and according to transformation plans. Red means applications components being decommissioned components, over time.
In the picture below Management can see that after 2010, IT becomes more effective reducing the number of Applications Components used to sustain the same Business and Application Services. This could be an analyses done before 2010 to see the outcome of foreseen projects pipeline or could be an analyses done after.
Another application landscape view regards with the TOGAF Technical Reference Model, where it is made clear the platform services that Business and infrastructure Applications use.
Management can understand how Processes are supported by IT artefacts, from Application Services to Platforms.
It is also possible to view in a simple graphic the lifecycles of the artifacts.
