Unified Worklist

The Challenge

Large organizations typically have a wide system landscape with which the users have to interact on a regular basis. Some of these organizations adopted BPM platforms that implement business process automation, gathering information across all enterprise systems, and giving the user a work list and focused information in each task or notification.

But as the industry matured, several application vendors started to include their own workflow engines in their applications. Due to the heterogeneity and overall diversity of the system landscape the users are now frequently forced to interact with more than one work list, which invariably leads to the inability to get a global overview of their work.
Moreover, the advent of cloud-based systems and initiatives further adds to the complexity of having different places where employees find their tasks to execute the work they need to execute.

The Unified Work List

The Unified Work List presents to the user all the tasks assigned to him, whether they are supported natively by the Oracle BPM engine, or they are supported by third party engines.
The users interact with this work list in a standard way:

  • All tasks have a common set of attributes;
  • Tasks can be ordered according to different criteria and regardless of the originating engine
  • Operations can be performed seamlessly on every notification
    Link Consulting currently offers implementations of a Unified Work List supporting processes from several engines, including Oracle BPM, Oracle Workflow, SAP SRM, Microsoft EPM, …
